YOU HAVE THREE MONTHS FROM OCTOBER – YOU CAN ADD THE MISSING DOCUMENTS TO YOUR APPLICATION until 1ST JANUARY 2020
We want to remind Sephardim applying for citizenship who made their application before 1st October that they are in time to present any documents which are still to be handed in.
They have three months to obtain the missing documents, but we recommend that it is done as soon as possible – time can pass very quickly!
If it should prove impossible to obtain any of the necessary documents within the three-month period, it will still be possible to submit them for a year, BUT in that case it will have to be shown that it was not possible to obtain them within the three months – and that could very difficult to prove.
So, we recommend that you remember that you basically have until 1st January 2020
September 2019 – On 6th September 2019 the Ministry of Justice issued a circular with the following text:
A request to do the Cervantes exams must be submitted with an application, although the exams have not yet been taken. Also the request to the Federation of Jews in Spain (FCJE) for a certificate stating that the applicant is Jewish must be submitted, even if that certificate has not yet been granted. These two requests are essential.
A period of three months is allowed for submitting all other documents which are required.
