–At Bennet&Rey Lawyers we support any type of peaceful protest against racism – in accordance with Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
–We are heartbroken to see what has happened in the United States and what can happen in the rest of the world as public bodies treat individuals in a discriminatory way on the basis of race, ideology, gender, social origins etc.
–We are worried that political arguments increase discrimination and racism and that the consequences are not taken into consideration. Society takes its views from its politicians.
–The right of free expression is a fundamental right, recognised in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which many countries – including the United States – have accepted.
What needs to happen in order to convince everyone that we are all one race?
How are we going to deal with the very serious challenges such as climate change, the increase use of AI and technological revolution if human beings continue to be divided?
We ask politicians and public institutions to take responsibility and to show responsibility in the things that they say, and also to accept the responsibilities required in the treaties which their countries have accepted.
We are unconditionally in favour of the political demonstrations of our brothers and sisters in the United States and we send our sympathy to the family of George Floyd as well as to so many others who are suffering discrimination.
